Florence Klatt

In 1990, Florence Klatt died unexpectedly. She left her shares of Johnson Controls to her nieces and nephews. Since then, the Klatt family has kept their JCI shares and diversified into a select number of companies within the S&P 500 index.

Florence joined JCI in 1939 and worked there until her death in 1990. Throughout her incredible career at JCI, she worked closely with CEO and Chairman of the Board Fred Brengel. In 1983, she became the first female officer of JCI. In 1987, she became the first director of the Johnson Controls Foundation. Since her passing, Florence has had a scholarship in her name established at Marquette University in Milwaukee.
